Abstract

This study was carried out to characterize the relative proportions of lymphocytes and plasma cells in gingival connective tissue of active advanced pzriodontal disease sites which bled after probing. Sites showing attachment 1)ss of more than 2mm during 2 months interval were classified as active sites. Sites with no bleeding and attachment loss of less than 2mm served as controls. The percentage of lymphocytes and plasma cells was compared between the test and control group. No statistically significant differences were found in oral and dental aspect (P>O. 03). In test and control group, the lesions were dominated by lymphocytes.
